Machrihanish Airbase Community Company (MACC) is pleased to announce that its COVID 19 Charitable Fund has awarded £6000 to 6 local organisations during the COVID 19 Pandemic. This funding round is part of MACCs annual Charitable Giving Fund which usually opens once per year in June but due to the current situation it was decided the fund should open early to help local not for profit organisations during this difficult time.

Funds have been awarded to Campbeltown Grammar School to help towards the cost of IT equipment for pupils; InspirAlba for laptops and art supplies for local young people who don’t have access to them allowing them to stay busy and keep in touch with their friends and family; Kintyre Link Club to put towards continued essential mental health support in the local community; Kintyre Recycling to cover overheads of the Kintyre Reuse Hub and to prevent job losses; Kintyre Youth Motocross Club towards the cost of a new fence for their track; and Meadows Under Fives for legal costs for changing constitution to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation to allow them to keep providing vital child care services.

Since 2014, MACC has awarded over £55,000 to local clubs, organisations, and good causes including the largest one off donation of £15,000 to the local kidney dialysis charity campaign in 2014. Other organisations that MACC have donated to over the last 6 years include;

• Campbeltown Pupils for the Kintyre Park Development Project,


• Kintyre Toy Library for new toys and other equipment,


• Campbeltown Christmas Lights Group for new lights for the town centre,


• The McCorkindale School of Dancing for funding towards their trip to Las Vegas to attend the American Highland Dance Championships,


• South Kintyre Sports Council for a new minibus,


• Kintyre Schools Pipe Band for new snare drums, harnesses and drum sticks,


• Campbeltown Community Council towards the cost of renovating Campbeltown Cross,


• Carradale Playpark for a new playpark and the Village Hall for a new floor,


• Kintyre Amateur Swim Club for new equipment.

MACC Charitable Giving Scheme was set up in 2017 and awards funds in line with MACCs charitable objectives:

• Managing community land and assets for community benefit

• Sustainable development, community development and regeneration

• Development of projects of particular benefit to the young and/or disadvantaged groups

• Projects that provide majority of benefit to the people of PA28 6 post code area.

MACC are delighted to confirm that the Charitable Giving Fund will open again in July 2020 for applications and further details on how to apply will be available on our Facebook page and website in the next few weeks. The successful applicants will be announced at MACCs Annual General Meeting in September.
