Second ballot: 95% say "yes".
The result of the second community ballot was 94.72% saying YES and only 5.16% saying NO. Hundreds of ballot papers were caught up in postal delays at a time of exceptionally icy weather conditions with lying snow affecting many roads. The delayed votes were counted separately.
Ballot Papers were sent on 3rd December 2010, posing the question "I am in favour of a community purchase of the former RAF Airfield Machrihanish including all airport infrastructures to the benefit of the community of postcode area PA28 6". The ballot closed at 5pm on 17th December 2010 with this result: Eligible voters: 5817. Votes received in time: 2,789. YES: 2642. NO: 144. Spoiled: 3.
